Have you joined the "Fish Fight" yet? Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall launched a campaign earlier this year to draw attention to - and hopefully to end - the insanity of current EU fishing practices, which result in thousands of tonnes of perfectly good fish being thrown back into the sea every day. Everyone interested in sustainable living, whether or not you eat fish, should support this initiative! Sign the petition now! See below...

Floramedica and Ethnomedica at the Edinburgh Science Festival 2011

Medicinal plants and healing traditions in Scotland and Colombia were given a special focus at this year's Science Festival at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. The fabulous "Healing Herbs" events on 16 and 17 April included craft activities, games and free drop-in sessions relating to traditional medicine and medicinal plants in the two countries. Activities on Scottish medicinal plants showcased the versatility and healing properties of oats ("Not just porridge"). These included poultice-making demonstrations from Ethnomedicacoordinator Anne Barker, and how to use oatmeal and other common plants to make soothing, skin-calming bath/shower soaks. Find out more HERE
